It's been a busy few weeks here at Presentation, especially with World Book Day and Seachtain Na Gaeilge. Here’s a small recap of a few events that took place in on school recently!

It’s always important to celebrate our own Irish culture and during Seachtain Na Gaeilge we always make sure to appreciate our culture even more. All Irish classes participated in fun events throughout the week, including all junior classes participating in “Tráth Na gCeist”. They also all took part in a poster making competition! All years also got to enjoy dancing to a Ceilí being led by Irish teacher, Ms.Tarrant as they did the traditional dances of “Seige of Ennis”, “Walls of Limerick”, “An Dreoilín” and the “Cha Cha Slide”, as Gaeilge of course. To finish out the week, 6th years were surprised as they were told they would be heading out the following week to go watch the Oscar nominated Irish film “An Cailín Ciúin”!

World Book Day was another big event being celebrated in school this week. The English department had a blast as they set up fun activities for all students and staff members to get involved, such as, “ Match the book to the staff member" competition, a bulletin board of a few popular books that were banned in some countries and why and students got to think deep as they thought of a few book recommendations that were displayed all around the school! There was always book token QR codes set up around the school for anyone who wanted a World Book Day voucher!

In other news the TY Young SVP group has been hard at work, preparing for their sleep-in event that’s due to take place in April to help raise awareness on homelessness in the community. They have also come up with the idea of a “Teen Talk Box” which will be set up in the canteen, where any questions that students may be uncomfortable to ask, can be submitted anonymously and answers will be but up weekly on the notice board!

Crochet club has also just started and is perfect for anyone who is interested in doing a bit of knitting and of course crochet! Although the club has only recently begun, members are already hard at work as they are preparing crochet flags for multi-cultural week coming up soon!

3rd year Home Economic students have also been working extremely hard as they prepare for their Junior Cert cooking exams which are set to take place on the 24th, 27th and 28th of March. We wish them all the best of luck!
